Land Reclamation and Backfilling

Filling and raising low-lying, swampy, quarried or eroded land so it can be built on or farmed.

About Land Reclamation and Backfilling

Land Reclamation and Backfilling

We reclaim low or damaged land by placing suitable fill in layers, with attention to drainage so that water is not simply pushed onto a neighbour's plot. Backfilling around foundations, trenches and structures is also covered. Wetlands and protected areas are subject to environmental rules, so approvals must be in place before work starts.

What we do

  • Site assessment of ground, water levels and drainage paths
  • Clearing and removal of unsuitable organic material
  • Placing and compacting fill in controlled layers
  • Provision of drainage channels or culverts where needed
  • Trimming and shaping to the required finished levels
  • Backfilling around foundations, pipes and structures

What we need from you to quote

  • Plot location, size and current condition
  • Required finished level and what the land will be used for
  • Whether the land is wetland, near a river or lake, or otherwise regulated, and any approvals held
  • Source and type of fill material available
  • Water table, flooding history or drainage concerns
  • Access for tipper trucks and compaction plant
